I found some really good products that I was interested in by looking at their website then going to the store to buy.The New Zealand Butter reminds me of butter I had back in my childhood so delicious,also loved the Pepperoni Sticks and finally the Artisan Raw Milk Cheese was rich with a nice flavour.I wish there was more products I was interested in like a full line of Homemade Soups Like Vegetable,Chicken Noodle,Tomato and smaller packages of meat.The lightening and display could be better especially the outside windows that don’t let you see much of the inside,but I recommend the store for the odd gourmet item.

Hotro has the most amazing customer service! I wanted to buy my mother some nourishing broth, but I live far away. I called them and the gentleman there was so kind and helped arrange to have her pick out some soups early in the morning since she works at night and has a long commute, so she had a very limited time when she could get her broth. He even called me after to let me know that everything went smoothly and she had come for her soups. Thank you Hotro for being excellent and really going the extra mile. If this is the level of thoughtfulness that goes into a single order, I can only imagine this is the level of thoughtfulness that goes into the products they make. Thank you Hotro.

Obsessed with this place, absolute staple location of my Mt Pleasant groceries shops! Kind of a mini butcher/cheese shop with BROTHS galore… I got really into making soups this winter and their chicken and beef broths have been essential - I will never use grocery store brand stock or Better Than Bouillon again and you shouldn’t either (love yourself please). They even have a broth for dogs/cats without salts/spices in it (adorable). They sell their broth frozen, refrigerated, or even as I’ve recently discovered in to go cups for the on-the-go individual?? Delightful.Aside from broths, they have a freezer section and a refrigerated section, both filled with all different kinds of local meats (lots from Abbotsford’s Bradner Farms). I’ve mostly bought their chicken, which is incredible when compared to the quality you get from Nesters/Buy Low, and you’re supporting local farms for the same (or sometimes lower) price!! They also have many rare items you wouldn’t find elsewhere - Bison ground beef, Water Buffalo cheese, chicken feet etc… I really like how the ethical and sustainable factor of how it seems like all the parts of the animal are utilized and sold when they butcher it - a few weeks ago they brought in duck meats, and even were selling the duck crackling they made from it!Aside from meats there’s a wide selection of all different kinds of cheeses (both local and also classic British ones etc) as well as the highly coveted FIFE BREAD, tons of kinds of gourmet sausages, sauerkraut, even homemade soups if you’re lucky enough to stop by when they’ve made a batch (I tried their split pea and ham and liked it so much I went back the day after to buy more!). One day I was even running late for work and stopped in to grab for one of their pig in a blanket-type baked goods for breakfast, which ended up being some sort of lovely lamb sausage with cheese - incredible.Anyways, if nothing else this winter I’ve learned there’s nothing more healing for the body & soul than healthy bone broth, so do yourself a favour and head over to this little gem at Main/Broadway and pick yourself up a to go cup of chicken broth to warm up - you won’t be disappointed!

My sister is on a clear liquid-only diet for awhile at VGH and was desperately wanting for something with more sustenance than what she was getting from the hospital kitchen, and after a couple phone calls back and forth to work out logistics, HOTRO was able to deliver her some hearty bone broths, which she confirms are helping to make her feel better.The staff there were a dream to coordinate with, were very patient with me as we figured out the logistics of a hospital delivery, and offered terrific service. 10/10 do recommend!

So glad to find New Zealand grass-fed butter here! All the local grass-fed butter I’ve found are in pale yellow. This one from New Zealand is in a rich golden yellow.

Home on the Range has been instrumental in helping me get over an auto-immune issue by making me large batches of bone broth to use for cleansing and for cooking. I have ordered from them several times now and am always so happy with the product and for their help. The broth is absolutely delicious and the team has been amazing to work with. I appreciate their assistance so much and would be covered in eczema if it weren't for their magical broth. Definitely recommend this business for both their fabulous products and their amazing customer service.

Looked everywhere in the neighbourhood for duck fat. Found it here reasonably priced 11$. However, I did see a frozen organic chicken that was priced at 46$.The thought of a 46$ chicken haunted me for days, but potatoes roasted in the duck fat I bought helped me forget.

Best bone broth in the city!! I have been drinking bone broth for years and came across this gem. No added preservatives or sodium. The staff are extremely friendly and care a lot about their product. We will be regular customers!
